Subaru has always been on the cutting edge of
technology. Now, every Subaru model can be equipped with smartphone
connectivity so that you can stay in touch even when operating the vehicle. In
this guide, we at Ira
Subaru will walk drivers near Wakefield, Reading, and
Danvers through the easy connection process so that you can take advantage of
your Subaru's connectivity capabilities.
Let's get started with a brief introduction on the Subaru STARLINK® Multimedia system, the catalyst that makes connectivity possible in your Subaru vehicle!
Subaru STARLINK® Multimedia System
Each Subaru model is equipped with an intuitive
STARLINK® Multimedia system that's comprised of an array of connectivity
options. Stay in touch while you're behind the wheel using Bluetooth®, Apple
CarPlay®, or Android Auto™-all of which seamlessly integrate your smartphone to
this system.
Bluetooth® can be used via your STARLNK® Multimedia system to do all kinds of things while you're behind the wheel. Make hands-free phone calls, wirelessly stream music, request navigation, and more.
Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, on the other hand, are designed to integrate your favorite smartphone apps to the STARLINK® Multimedia screen. Use the large touchscreen display to play audio, follow turn-by-turn navigation, and safely access your text messages.
Connecting to Your Subaru via Bluetooth®
Connecting your phone to your Subaru via Bluetooth® is simple when you follow these easy instructions…
- Activate Bluetooth® connecting on your smartphone or smart device.
- Turn your Subaru on but keep the vehicle in park with the brake on.
- Open the STARLINK® Multimedia system and click Setup > Bluetooth® > Add.
- On the STARLINK® screen, a pin will appear, which you'll enter into your smartphone after you click on Subaru STARLINK® in your Bluetooth®-pairing menu.
If the syncing is successful, your smartphone will be paired and will automatically re-pair to the STARLINK® system every time you get in your car.
Integration: Android Auto™ & Apple CarPlay®
Connecting to your Subaru via Android Autoâ„¢ or
Apple CarPlay® is a bit different than how you would connect to this system via
Bluetooth®. You can connect to your Subaru in a matter of minutes via Apple
CarPlay® or Android Auto™ using these helpful steps…
- Ensure that you have a working USB cord for your smartphone.
- Download the respective Android Auto™ or Apple CarPlay® smartphone app onto your phone.
- Turn your Subaru on but keep the vehicle in park with the brake on.
- Plug your USB cord into the USB port near your STARLINK® Multimedia system.
- A request on the STARLINK® screen will prompt you to authorize use of Android Auto™ or Apple CarPlay®. Accept this request.
If you follow these instructions, your smartphone will be paired to your Subaru.
