What is Pakeen Farm?
This farm has been family-owned and operated since 1899. Nearly 100 years later Pakeen Farm branched out in many ways. First, the first Christmas tree was planted on the property, which was allowed to grow big and strong for eight years before it was just right to cut and bring joy to a family around the holidays.
Then, one year later Pakeen Farm partnered with The Trustees of Reservations to conserve 150 acres of land that will now remain natural and undeveloped for all of eternity.
Continuing to grow, many milestones were created over the years, like the Fall Harvest. C.S.A. shares, and the Pakeen Farm Mini Donuts. What's the next great milestone in the farm's history? You'll just have to wait and find out.
Fresh Produce at Your Fingertips
We know you're here to learn more about how you can get your hands on some delicious produce, so we'll just cut right to the chase. About a decade ago, the farm offered their first C.S.A., Community Supported Agriculture, share. This program allows patrons to get a share of the produce harvested every week for about 20 weeks.
In addition to supporting Pakeen Farm when purchasing a share, you'll also be aiding three certified organic farms in Vermont, too: Burnt Rock Farm, Wood's Market Garden, and Kingsbury Market Garden.
Each share includes a variety of seasonal produce that was freshly picked. Some of the common produce that's included with these C.S.A. shares include tomatoes, onions, potatoes, carrots, and more. Purchasing a share means fresh food for you and supporting local agriculture for the farm.
Seasonal Festivities
Does the moment the first leaf falls off the tree or a crisp morning get you excited for the upcoming autumn season? If you're looking for a way to get your fall fixing in one easy place, Pakeen Farm is the right place for you.
At the farm, you can pick your perfect pumpkin, sip some warm apple cider, and visit The Farmyard to hang out with some farm animals.
Make sure to follow them on their Facebook page to get updates about their apple orchard. In 2016, a collection of Honycrisp, Cortland, Macoun, and more apples were planted to make a mini orchard. The hope is for the first harvest to occur in either 2020 or 20201.
After the fall season has come to an end and Jack Frost starts to head our way, bring your family over to the farm to find the perfect Christmas tree. You can pick and cut down your own tree, or you can choose one of our several great freshly cut trees.
To help warm you up on those cold winter days, we invite you to join us in the barn and delight in some hot cocoa and freshly made Pakeen Farm Mini Donuts.
